A new Gentoo User

by rullzer on Feb.01, 2007, under Gentoo

I convinced my sister to get Gentoo on her new PC. Well convincing is not the right word, i kinda forced her. Since we have no more Windows license keys. At first she didn’t want it but then i showed her KDE. And well she can do anything she wants. Play mp3′s, edit files, chat and email so what more does she need? Anyway it is compiling X at the moment. Tomorrow morning i will compile KDE. Then Saturday morning getting internet connection to her room and its done.

To get this thing running I had to use a LiveUSB stick. Since it at the moment doesn’t have a CD-ROM. I was not in the mood to run catalyst so I used a version a friend of mine made some years ago (he’ll work on it soon he sad to me). Anyway it is easy to use: check out knopperdisk for more info. So the thing boots. All nice. Getting the base system to work. And now it is compiling. TV-out worked right out of the box. So that saved me dragging down a monitor.

So anyway that will be 1 linux PC extra in the house. Talk about good news.
